In 1977, Radio Glendon got their first "cable only" FM license, having on-air shows from 1978-1980. Being named "CKRG" officially.
In 1980, they lost funding, which meant they could no longer keep their license, and it led to the broadcasting coming to a halt for 5 years.
From 1985-1990, when they were able to gather some equipment, Radio Glendon mostly did DJ nights and pub nights.
In the years between 1990-1998, students chose to revitalize Radio Glendon and try to reinstate their FM license to continue broadcasting to the Glendon Campus. After many rejected applications to the Canadian Radio-televeision Communications Commision, they were left with limited options.
1998-2002: the Radio Gendon manager was able to build a team of 85 students, allowing for the first complete programming schedule in over 10 years.
2005-2011, Radio Glendon as able to obtain their license and broadcast on 89.9 FM, their license expiring in 2011. In 2011, Radio Glendon decided to digitize everything, creating a website, and broadcasting online.
2020: COVID-19 hit. 99% of Radio Glendon's activity was shut down, and the effort to regain the FM license ceased. With no content being made, no students on campus, Radio Glendon was at a stand still.
2022-present: A student by the name of Olivia Gallo was looking to start up a podcast club, one in which she and her club members would discuss mental health issues, and provide a safe space for Glendonites. She gathered around 30 members, and the club was named MVP, The Mental View Podcast.
In order to do this, she not only needed equipment, but a room to record in. She was told by those in student affairs that Radio Glendon had been inactive for around 2-3 years, and she could take a look at the space.
She managed to get in contact with the previous executives of Radio Glendon who still were students, and went about sharing ideas, and getting excited for what Radio Glendon would do in the upcoming academic year.
Unfortunately, nothing was within the first semester.
Olivia took matters into her own hands and spent the rest of 2022 up until today, building Radio Glendon back up from the ground, from protecting and regaining the levy, to renovating the entire room to be more modern.
The club as it stands today is one for music production and podcasting, but still keeping the name Radio Glendon as an homage to what the Radio once was.
